Press Release May 25, 2007 Owing to the tremendous storms that swept through the area on April 16, 2007, the managed forests of the Hanover Water Works Company (HWWCo) sustained nearly 200 acres of fallen and damaged trees (nearly 15% of the Company's woodlands).
The Directors of the HWWCo are asking local residents and neighbors of its forested lands for their patience and understanding as we work to remove and salvage as much of the timber as possible. This will mean increased truck traffic along the following roads: Trescott, Grasse, Dogford, Etna, Greensboro.
Salvaging the fallen trees is important for several reasons including reducing the potential for forest fires and helping to control the growth of Buckthorn (an invasive plant). Salvage is also vital to the healthy reforestation process and protecting the ecology of the watershed. Tree salvage and clean up will last several weeks.
