The Hanover Police Department is located at 46 Lyme Road (Route 10 North) just past the Dartmouth College golf course. The Police Department is adjacent to the Fire Department building.

Summer Parking Ban
 
The Town of Hanover summer parking ban is in effect from May 1 to November 15.
 
No parking will be allowed between the hours of 2:00 A.M. to 6:00 A.M.
on any Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday on the following streets:

S. Main St (from East Wheelock St. to the Town Line)
Allen St (from S. Main St. to School St.)
Lebanon St (from S. Main St. to Park St.)
All of Maynard St
West Wheelock St. (from School St. to S. Main St.)
East Wheelock St. (from S. Main St to College St.)
AND/OR any other streets so posted for parking restrictions.
 

 

Fingerprint Information

The Hanover, NH Police Department offers services for individuals needing to be
fingerprinted for employment, licensing or other purposes.
 
Fingerprinting is available Tuesdays & Thursdays
between the hours of 8am - noon and 1pm - 4pm
 
They are done on a "first come, first served" basis
and may depend on the availability of a Police Officer.
 
To make the best use of time, please be prepared with the following:
 
Fingerprint cards - Filled out but NOT signed, and
A Government issued ID with your photo & Signature
 
There is a $20.00 fee for this service if you are NOT a Resident of Hanover, NH

Police Chief James Collins joined the Hanover Police Department in 1964 as a patrolman and was later promoted to Chief in 1982. He was a native of Enfield, NH and lived there all his life with the exception of the years he served in the military. He was a graduate of Enfield, NH High School and received Police Command training at Babson College in Wellesley, Mass.

On January 30, 1987, Chief Collins died in the line of duty while assisting with traffic at the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 89. He had stopped to assist with the scene while returning to Hanover from Concord during which time he suffered a fatal heart attack. He was 56 years old.
