Patrol DivisionThe Patrol Division is the largest program, providing the most visible and direct services to the community 24 hours a day. The word "patrol" is used here in its broadest sense. It is considered to be the primary law enforcement function and embraces much more than the act of patrolling. It is defined as a generalized function where officers engage in a wide variety of activities which include:
Equipment The Department maintains a fleet of marked Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptors, a Ford Expedition SUV and several unmarked units. Cruisers are equipped with a Mobil Data Terminal (MDT) which is a computer linked to the Department's network and able to research License, Registration and Warrant information. Each unit also carries a portable defibrillator unit. The Department has several specialized units including
