In 2009 a total of 25,858 parking tickets were issued.  72 of those tickets were for handicapped parking violations.  22 vehicles were immobilized (booted) for non payment of fines.  Revenue generated through parking activities goes into the "Parking Fund" and is used to support parking operations and maintenance as well as funding the Advance Transit Shuttle Services that is free to local riders.

If the ticket and late penalty fee are not paid upon receipt of the notice, a court summons may be issued.  Failure to answer a summons may result in the issuance of a warrant for the arrest of the registered owner or the person who primarily uses the vehicle. Additional other penalties may be imposed for failure to appear. Upon a conviction, the court may impose a fine of up to $500.
