The Hanover Planning Board will be holding a public hearing on proposed zoning amendments related to allowing short-term rentals in Hanover. Currently, renting property for thirty days or less is not permitted by the Zoning Ordinance.
In an effort to promote the safety and health of our community, our normal public input process must be modified. To that end, we are working to limit public presence at the hearing, but to continue to encourage other forms of public input. As the Planning Board considers if they should present this proposed zoning amendment to Town Meeting, the Planning Board needs to hear your opinion about the proposal. To that end, please consider sending your written comments to me. Your comments will be forwarded to the Board and considered as if you were attending the public hearing. I have also included my phone number, so, if you have questions about the proposal or you would like me to transmit a summary of our conversation to the Planning Board, you can give me a call.
The Planning Board itself will be meeting remotely and will not be present at the Town Offices for the hearing. Members will be participating in a conference call. If you would like to participate remotely, please use the following call information:
Dial – 866-726-3900 Pass code – 9571281#
With the goal of adhering to new norms regarding public gathering, if you choose to attend the meeting, we will require that you observe physical distancing of at least 6 feet from other people. Please understand that this is to protect your health and the health of our staff as well as to comply with public health guidelines regarding public assembly. However, if there is any chance that you might have been exposed to the virus or are feeling symptomatic, PLEASE do not plan on coming to Town Hall, but please consider submitting your comments by mail or phone, and/or participating in the conference call.
The public hearing will be held on March 31 at 7:30 PM in the Board Room of the Town Offices at 41 South Main Street. Copies of the amendment are available at the Planning Office or you can see the proposed amendments here:
Please forward your comments to Vicki.Smith@HanoverNH.org or via hard copy at the address below.
Following the public hearing, the Planning Board will decide to send the amendment to the warrant for consideration at Town Meeting. The amendment would appear on the paper ballot and will not be discussed at Town Meeting. Voting by ballot on Town Meeting Day is from 7 am to 7 pm.
