I would like to welcome you to the Town of Hanover, New Hampshire. Our website is designed to acquaint you with the many ways in which your town government works to assist its residents, businesses and institutions and its visitors. Hanover is a full-service community, and we strive continually to improve the quality of the service we provide. We do appreciate your feedback and your suggestions as to how we can improve our performance. Please access the “Contact Us” link on the home page to share any questions or comments you might have with either me or any one of our staff.
The Town Manager is appointed by the Board of Selectmen and is the Chief Administrative Officer of the Town. I serve at the pleasure of the five-member Board and am responsible for implementing all policies adopted by the Board, as well as for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the Town’s 11 functional departments, including Police, Fire, Public Works, the Howe and Etna Libraries, Parks and Recreation, Planning and Zoning, Administrative Services, Assessing, Human Resources and Information Systems.
As Town Manager, I strive to keep the Board of Selectmen apprised of key Town issues, to seek their input and guidance on key operational decisions, to alert them to community needs as they arise, to provide support in strategic planning for the community, and to provide the Board with policy recommendations for their consideration and action. I present the Board with the annual proposed budget and capital improvement program, prepare all information required for the annual Town Meeting in May of each year, and represent the Board in local, regional and statewide activities.
Hanover is a community that relies on local volunteers in many ways. In very large measure, our community is a wonderful place in which to live and work due to the hundreds of hours that our dedicated volunteers lend to assist their community. Whether by serving on a local board or commission, helping to organize community activities, coaching in our local recreation programs, working for our local elections, or serving on the board of any one of a number of local organizations, the Hanover community benefits immensely from many generous people. This is an example of a small New England community at its finest – family oriented, active, healthy, and multi-faceted.
So let us know what you might like to do to help Hanover continue to be a wonderful place to live, work and visit. Reach out to us, by email or by phone. Please feel free to email me or my Executive Assistant, Kerry Osgood. You can reach us both by phone at 603-643-0701 or 603-640-3210.
